I ncom's Jonavan Alvarado and Debra Lippe assessing component quality. Anyone from Central Massachusetts knows of Incom, so I applied and was hired while attending QCC for my Associates Degree in Manufacturing. At Incom, I use what I learned about Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to best produce high-demand fused fiber optics that manufacturers in industries like medical, military and display need to make their products work. Incom is like a second family. People support each other and share in the desire to manufacture the best components possible. Manufacturing is continuously growing and at Incom we're enabling life-changing technologies. Incom is 'what's inside' and that makes all the difference. I ncom Team Leader, Danny Ortiz, (left) is all smiles talking about teamwork and career advancement with direct reports Stephanie Torres (Machine Operator) and Jeremia Latour (Machine Operator). I came to Southbridge from Puerto Rico and was looking for a company that was willing to train, help pay for education and provide opportunities to advance. Incom gave me a chance because it saw I was willing to work hard and do what it takes to be successful. I started as a Machine Operator, became an Inspector, was promoted to Group Leader, then Second Shift Supervisor and now I'm First Shift Team Leader. I can run almost every machine on the manufacturing production floor and manage a staff of 14. Mentoring—up, down and laterally—is ingrained in Incom's daily fabric. Knowledge transfer empowers people to advance and that has a direct impact on the high quality fused fiber optic components Incom produces.
