Developer unveils $250M waterfront plan Developer Jim Brady and CPB2 LLC unveiled a $250 million plan for the former Portland Co. complex at 58 Fore St., transforming the eastern waterfront. e plan calls for 638 residential units for sale and for rent, 132 hotel rooms, 59,873 square feet of retail space and 123,917 square feet of office space — a total of 1 million square feet. Plans for a 13-acre marina for transient and seasonal boaters are also in the works. A Planning Board hearing is expected before the end of 2016. Mercy Hospital cuts 31 jobs As part of a large consolidation effort, Portland's Mercy Hospital announced the layoffs of 31 employ- ees on Sept. 20. According to WMTW TV-8, the cuts included employees working in the service, clinical and administrative depart- ments of the hospital. Mercy spokesman Wayne Clark told WMTW the cuts were necessary because of market demands. In July, the hospital announced that it had offered early retirement buyouts to 99 eligible employees.
