Too often, people with disabilities and the people caring for them feel isolated. With the help of Pine Tree Society, they're not alone. SERVICE LOCATION(S) Pine Tree Society is proud to serve the entire state of Maine. 2017 GOALS Eighty years ago, Pine Tree Society started as a bold new idea. Its founders had a vision: to meet the unmet needs of Maine people with disabilities through innovative services. eir vision and foresight has set Pine Tree Society on a long-term path of growth. Today, we continue to grow and evolve to effectively address needs and transform more lives. In 2016, Pine Tree Society acquired Pathways Inc. of Lewiston/ Auburn, allowing for the immediate expansion of impact into an underserved area. With the acquisition, Pine Tree Society added new programs including an Early Learning Center and adult and senior programming. e new cadre of programs creates a stronger Pine Tree Society – one that truly offers services early childhood to senior. In 2017, Pine Tree Society will continue to build and grow resources in the Lewiston/Auburn region. Pine Tree Society will work to expand access to meaningful work opportunities, expand programming at Pine Tree Camp and increase opportunities for people who are Deaf through American Sign Language Interpreting and other services, while simultaneously continuing to evolve current services to best meet the needs of the people it serves. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES Pine Tree Society's special events are focused on raising money to support Pine Tree Camp's Campership Fund. Since it opened in 1945, Pine Tree Camp has welcomed all who could benefit from a barrier-free summer camp opportunity regardless of their ability to pay the $1,900 tuition. Last year, Pine Tree Camp provided nearly 99% of its 650 campers with full or partial tuition assistance. e Open Door Policy remains firmly in place, thanks in part to the support of participants and business sponsors throughout Maine. Dysart's Snowmobile Ride-in to benefit Pine Tree Camp, Feb. 3-5, 2017, Newport. Celebrating 44 years, the event draws community members as well as snowmobilers from throughout the state. Paddle for Pine Tree Camp, June 3, 2017, Kennebec River. e 21st annual Paddle for Pine Tree Camp features a family-friendly paddle on the Kennebec River, ending with a cookout overlooking the water. Start a workplace team to promote team building, community involvement and employee wellness. Support Pine Tree Society's annual appeal, which directly benefits the organization's full slate of programs and services. Sponsor a Pine Tree camper from your local community as part of the Pine Tree Camp 100 campaign. e $1,900 one-time donation will mean that a child with a disability will enjoy a transformative barrier-free summer camp experience. In its 80-year history, Pine Tree Camp has never turned a camper away due to inability to pay tuition. Since 1965, Pine Tree Society has sold holiday cards to benefit its programs and services. Featuring the work of noted Maine artists, the Society's holiday cards are the perfect way to wish customers, vendors, family members and friends a happy holiday season while impacting Maine people with disabilities. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Pine Tree Society has a full range of meaningful volunteer opportunities that directly impact Maine people with disabilities. Whether it is helping to maintain Maine's only accessible tree house, leading a group activity for adults with developmental disabilities or supporting the Paddle for Pine Tree Camp by acting as a water safety escort, there is something for everyone – regardless of skill level and time availability.
