Nonprofits employ 84,000 Maine citizens and represent 18.9% of the state's gross domestic product. As the new executive director of the Maine Association of Nonprofits, I am honored by the opportunity to build on MANP's history and accomplishments, to encourage innovation and cross-sector relationships and to strengthen the voice of the sector as an integral partner in Maine's economy and quality of life. For more than 20 years, MANP has provided the state's largest professional net- work for the nonprofit sector to learn from one another and actively promotes information-sharing and collaboration to find solutions for shared concerns. MANP will continue to provide our nearly 800 member organizations with the quality services, resources, tools and training that they need to be successful. Affordable access to timely information and relevant training is critical to staying up-to-date on the trends and best practices in the field. Over the next several months, I look forward to learning more about the challenges and opportunities facing Maine and the nonprofit sector from our friends across the state, including leaders in the business and philan- thropic communities. If your business would like to join the conversation, please let me know. We welcome you to our expanding network of partners who share our passion for Maine's nonprofits and their role in strengthen- ing Maine communities. We are delighted to collaborate once again with Mainebiz on this Giving Guide to highlight the significant contributions Maine nonprofits make to supporting our economy and fostering the values that matter most to the people of Maine.
