Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. & Museum 2017 GOALS Our eff orts to build a new museum in the town of Gray, while maintaining a presence along the Portland waterfront, will remain the focus of 2017. e past year involved revising concept designs and working with consultants to develop our vision for the future home of the organization. e coming years will focus on securing fi nancial support for that vision. By encouraging community involvement in the organization, we hope to raise our profi le within the state. We will continue to expand partnerships with the state's other railroad museums and will further our involvement with the Maine Transportation Trail. Additional goals include increasing member and sponsor support by 10% during the year. We will work to build on the overwhelming success of our current family- friendly special events, including The Pumpkin Train, The Ice Cream Train, Story Time and the Polar Express, and hope to off er new and exciting visitor experiences for our audience during the year. With an average 20% growth in attendance each season for the past fi ve years, the museum is expanding and will continue to strive for new ways to engage and educate the public. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES We welcome sponsorships as a way to support the museum and increase exposure within the city and state. A variety of sponsorship levels are available for the annual Polar Express holiday event, during which over 12,000 passengers ride the train to the North Pole each year. Sponsorships are available for the museum's annual meet- ing and throughout the year for other programs and events. Businesses can also get involved by becoming a business member or hosting an event at the museum. ere are opportunities for businesses of all sizes and the museum can design a custom sponsor package to meet the needs of any organization. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES ere are a multitude of ways to get involved in supporting the museum. Our business membership program provides fi nancial support for the museum while giving your business and employees the opportunity to enjoy all that the museum has to off er. With over 37,000 visitors annually, membership off ers front-line exposure to thou- sands of local visitors and tourists that enjoy the museum each year. In addition to membership, our Relocation Campaign off ers a variety of giving levels to help support an expanded new home for the museum. Annual giving through our summer and winter appeals supports three main areas of the organization, including historic preservation, relocation and general operations. e museum also welcomes in-kind support of goods and services. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Museum volunteers serve in many areas including train operations, restoration, tours, special events and more. Business volunteer days can be arranged in advance for special projects that may include clean-up or painting work. Special event volunteers are needed year round but most especially during the Polar Express holiday event. Whether you are looking for a weekly or one time commitment, we have something for everyone.
