MISSION STATEMENT The Maine Children's Home builds and strengthens families and their children, instilling hope for the future and a better quality of life. SERVICE LOCATION(S) Most of the children, youth and families served are in Kennebec and Somerset counties but we serve children and families across the state of Maine for adoptions, summer camp scholarships and the Christmas Program. The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers 2017 GOALS e Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers is a growing nonprofi t organi- zation with more than 117 years of experience providing adoptions, social work services and care for children, youth and families across the state of Maine. We are making enhancements to our Dorothy 'Bibby' Alfond Campus in Waterville for long-term development, expanding technology, increasing staff training and maintaining adoption and early care and education accreditations, along with state licenses for outpatient counseling, adoptions and childcare. We are expanding supports which 'build and strengthen families and their children, instilling hope for the future and a better quality of life'. f Domestic and International Adoption Services f Outpatient counseling and targeted case management f Sharon Abrams Teen Parent School Program f e Children's Place Early Care and Education Center f Summer Camp Scholarship Program f Christmas Program FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES e MCHLW fundraising includes: concerts, the Friends of The Maine Children's Home Yard Sale and Lobster Roll Bag Lunches, gift drives with local schools, businesses and supporters. e board hosts three major fundraising events annually: f The Annual Celebration is held in January with a dinner, silent auction and the Annual Fund kick off . f More than 200 people participate in the Annual Wine Tasting in April with heavy hors d'oeuvres, wine sampling and a silent auction. f The Passion for Fashion Show is held every September for the Teen Parent School Program. Over 225 people join us for the dinner, fash- ion show, silent and live auctions of many goods and services. Corporate support is essential to our annual fundraising. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES f Corporate sponsorships of MCHLW events are available, which off ers local businesses broad community exposure with advertising and promotions on our website, event materials and in electronic and print newsletters. f Direct-mail appeals are sent in January for the Annual Fund (sup- porting more than 3,000 children, youth and families in 2016), in April for Summer Camp Scholarships (120 youth were sent to camp in 2016) and a Red Stocking Appeal in October for all programs (for more than 1,700 Christmas packages). Other sponsor- ships are available for all programs. f In-kind donations of books, games, clothing or toys are needed to meet all the needs of the Christmas Boxes for youth all across Maine. We also welcome donations of new baby clothes, baby furniture and supplies for new parents. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES We welcome over 150 volunteers annually from local schools, colleges, civic clubs and businesses to complete activities and projects for our Waterville Campus. f Join the Friends of The Maine Children's Home to provide support for e Maine Children's Home. e Friends are goodwill ambassadors that help promote and carry out fun- draising activities as well as provide resources to help grow and maintain MCHLW's six core programs. f Assisting our Christmas Program by sorting and packing more than 1,700 children's gift boxes each year. f Read to the 53 children at Our Children's Place Early Care and Education Center. f Serve on the board or other plan- ning and development committees.
