Kennebec Behavioral Health (KBH) has provided high quality community-based prevention, education and treatment with regard to mental illness, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders for over 55 years. SERVICE LOCATION(S) Kennebec Behavioral Health offers clinic-based services in Waterville, Augusta, Winthrop and Skowhegan as well as vocational rehabilitation programs - "Clubhouses" located in Waterville, Augusta and Lewiston. A total of 22 programs including community-based services are provided throughout mid-Maine and are offered to clients from all areas of the state of Maine. Kennebec Behavioral Health 2017 GOALS In order to achieve its mission, Kennebec Behavioral Health focuses continuously on both quality and results. Every three years, the organization goes through a rigorous accreditation process through CARF International. CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) is an independent nonprofi t accreditor of health and human services. Although accreditation is not required to provide behavioral health services in Maine, the value of the accreditation process and the agency's on-going relationship with CARF cannot be overstated. e many benefi ts of accreditation include: f Development and maintenance of current, fi eld-driven standards f Improved responsiveness of the programs and services f Consultative peer-review f Focus on outcomes measurement and management f Seeking input and being responsive to persons served and other stakeholders f Receiving continuous improvement services to improve outcomes A team of reviewers will visit KBH to audit policies, interview staff and persons served, observe organizational practices and review appropriate documentation. Upon completion of the survey, CARF renders an accreditation decision and will deliver a report that identifi es KBH's strengths, areas for improvement and its level of demonstrated conformance to the standards. KBH will then complete a Quality Improvement Plan and submit an Annual Conformance to Quality Report each year throughout the accreditation term. In addition to CARF accreditation, each of KBH's Clubhouses – High Hopes in Waterville, Looking Ahead in Lewiston and Capitol Clubhouse in Augusta – are accredited by Clubhouse International. e Clubhouses must achieve a rigorous set of objectives that are continually assessed and compared to national standards. ese indicators include the percent of members successfully employed and the percent of members who participate in supported education programs. Both national accreditations enable Kennebec Behavioral Health to provide eff ective, innovative care that is client-centered and evidence informed. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES e support of community members across the state of Maine who care about the health and wellness of our most vulnerable community members is critical to Kennebec Behavioral Health. One-time, annual and planned gifts are needed and vital to caring for people with severe and persistent mental illness. Every gift is someone's next step toward recovery. Gifts can be arranged by contacting Tina Chapman, development and communications director, at (207) 873-2136, Ext. 1905, tchapman@kbhmaine.org or www.kbhmaine.org.
