For 22 consecutive years, JMG has been recognized by JAG as the best program in the nation for exceeding national standards for achieving successful outcomes in support of Maine students, including graduation, postsecondary education and engagement in the workforce. MISSION STATEMENT JMG partners with public education and private businesses to offer results-driven solutions to ensure all Maine students graduate, attain post-secondary credentials and pursue meaningful careers. SERVICE LOCATION(S) JMG serves students throughout Maine, in all 16 counties, through our school-based programs and statewide initiatives. JMG 2017 GOALS JMG partners with Maine's public middle and high schools; and Maine's com- munity college and university system to help students reach their fullest poten- tial. JMG serves more than 6,500 students and is the only nonprofi t in Maine off ering a continuum of support to help students transition from middle school through high school graduation, onto postsecondary education through degree attainment and connections to successful career pathways. JMG programs are hosted within Maine's public schools and classes and year-round activities are led by JMG Specialists who serve as mentors and edu- cators. Specialists are able to develop student-centered personalized education plans, delivered through a competency-based curriculum focusing on academic knowledge, career development skills and leadership and teamwork. JMG's unique connections to Maine businesses are an important part of achieving successful results on behalf of our students. By visiting our class- rooms, hosting job shadows and internships and volunteering at student enrich- ment events, JMG's more than 200 business partners help to expose students to Maine's diverse network of employers and career opportunities. Our goals are to: f Increase the number of students served by incrementally adding new programs to ensure student- centered programmatic integrity and uphold the highest-standards for results-driven outcomes on behalf of Maine's students. f Advance strategies to support public- private partnerships to promote the development and implementation of best practices to support all students in reaching their fullest potential. f Remain at the forefront of an entre- preneurial approach to education, lis- tening to the needs of students and other stakeholders and responding with high-quality solutions such as JMG's new College Success model. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES The Sea Dog JMG Golf Tournament is hosted annually in partnership with Shipyard Brewing Co. e success of this fundraiser is due to statewide busi- ness support through teams, sponsorships and in-kind donations. The Career Development Conference (CDC) is JMG's largest student-to- business event. Nearly 600 juniors and seniors from across the state compete to showcase their skills in career and postsecondary readiness, as well as celebrate their achievements in community service. Funds to support the event are raised through CDC event sponsorship and registration fees for the Career and College Expo, where businesses, colleges, post-secondary training institutions and military personnel provide information about post-graduate opportunities. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES JMG off ers annual sponsorship opportunities for a variety of student enrich- ment events, including conferences, career associations and recognition awards. e ongoing support of individuals, private foundations and the Maine business community is a fundamental part of JMG's success. ese opportunities range from $100 to lead sponsorship levels ranging from $1,000 to $20,000, depending on the size and scope of the event. Supporting businesses receive recognition of their contributions in many ways, on both the local and statewide level, through JMG's website, social media and print materials. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES An important part of our program is our collaboration with Maine businesses and community leaders, which provides students with exposure to the career and con- tinued education opportunities that are available in Maine. ese partners provide job shadowing and internship opportunities, as well as facility tours. ey come into the classroom and talk with the students about what it takes to succeed in the workforce. is network of business and community leaders directly connects our students with life after high school – keeping them inspired and engaged.
