Each year, we grant an average of 70 wishes (that's over 1,300 wishes since our inception) to Maine children fighting life-threatening medical conditions. However, statistics and conversations with major treatment centers in Maine indicate that there are additional children annually receiving a new diagnosis that would qualify them for a wish. We aspire to secure sufficient community support to be ready to serve every newly diagnosed child in 2017, our 25th anniversary. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES Make-A-Wish Maine holds Walk For Wishes® events in the spring and fall. Managed by volunteers, walks are held at multiple locations across the state. is critical fundraiser raises money and awareness throughout communities. Teams are formed on an easy-to-use website that offers individual or team fundraising pages. Watch www.maine.wish.org for details about 2017 locations. Sponsorships are available and include promotion on the walk website, signage and t-shirts. The Fantasy Ball, which raised enough to grant 33 wishes in 2016. e event attracts about 250 supporters who walk away with vacation packages, art, sports tickets and, most importantly, the affirmation that they helped make dreams come true for seriously-ill Maine children. The 2018 Fantasy Auction is sched- uled for next summer in Rockland and partnership opportunities are available. Our fastest growing event, Chips 'N Dips, is a casino-themed party for a cause. Table games, live music and dancing culminate into one of the most fun nights of the year. is event raises funds to grant 26 wishes and is held at the Portland Country Club in Falmouth. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Each December the chapter counts on the spirit of giving to raise enough money to grant 20 wishes during the holiday season campaign called, Season of Wishes®. Individual donations are accepted and welcomed on www.maine.wish.org. Partners are invited to help grant one of the 20 wishes and, in turn, the partner is mentioned on the radio as well as on our website, Facebook page and press releases. We kick this off with a wish child lighting the downtown Portland Christmas tree. Many other events hosted by volunteers and supporters occur throughout the year all over the state – from block parties to motorcycle rides and wiffle ball tourna- ments. ese events are listed on and promoted via our website and Facebook page.
