What we are learning is essential to the future of the ocean and the many valuable resources it provides. SERVICE LOCATION(S) Our scientists conduct research through- out the world — from the Gulf of Maine, to the polar regions, to the deep ocean. While our fieldwork takes place globally, we bring our studies back to Lincoln County in Midcoast Maine and our state-of-the- art, LEED Platinum-certified laboratory on the Damariscotta River in East Boothbay. Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences 2017 GOALS Strategic actions have been set by Bigelow Laboratory board of trustees, scien- tists and staff, and include: f Investing in senior scientists and their staff to ensure that they have the resources needed to succeed; f Achieving a greater presence in international scientific planning and global research programs; f Strengthening technology transfer and fee-for-service applications; f Expanding educational programs and; f Increasing outreach efforts to explain why the ocean and microscopic life within it matter.
