SERVICE LOCATION(S) The American Lung Association serves Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. 2017 GOALS As a nationwide, community-based organization, the American Lung Association works on four strategic imperatives: f To defeat lung cancer, the American Lung Association invests in lung cancer education, patient support and research and launched the LUNG FORCE initiative to unite the nation in the fight against lung cancer. f To improve the air we breathe, the American Lung Association has been leading the fight for healthy air and raising awareness about the health effects of air pollution for decades. f To support patients and their caregivers, the American Lung Association funds lung disease research and offers programs, services and trusted sci- ence-based lung health information. f To eliminate tobacco use and tobacco-related diseases, the American Lung Association helps smokers quit and encourages every community to be smoke free. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES Trek Across Maine: Annual cycling event that travels 180 miles from the mountain of Sunday River to the sea in Belfast. In 2017, we will celebrate our 33rd anniversary ride with approximately 2,000 cyclists and 750 volunteers. e Trek Across Maine is the largest fundraising event of its kind in the nation for the American Lung Association, raising an average of $1.5 million annually. Cycle the Seacoast: A one day, multi-route option cycling event in Portsmouth, N.H. Offering scenic views of the historic Seacoast region, Cycle the Seacoast provides cycling options for beginners, families and road war- riors. In 2017, Cycle the Seacoast will celebrate its eighth annual ride, hosted by Redhook Brewery in Portsmouth, with a fundraising goal of $90,000. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES f Donate to a cyclist or team for the 2017 Trek Across Maine f Become a cash sponsor for the Trek Across Maine – various levels of under- writing and support are available – or donate product in the form of in-kind sponsorship to the event f Participate in independent office fundraisers to support a specific event (ex.
