Roth is dean and professor of management and marketing at the Barney School of Business, University of Hart- ford. At the Barney School he oversees the business undergraduate and master pro- grams delivered to over 1,000 residential and working professional students. His areas of expertise include global corporate and marketing strategy, branding and cus- tomer value. Roth teaches glob- al marketing manage- ment, foreign market entry and growth and strategy cours- es, both on-ground and online, for which he has won numerous teaching awards. He has also taught at the Moore School of Busi- ness at the University of South Carolina, Car- roll School of Management at Boston College, Katz Graduate School of Business (University of Pittsburgh), the Arthur D. Little School of Management (Boston), and at universities in Austria, France, Hong Kong, Mexico, Portugal, Thailand and Tunisia. He has led executive education programs on global strategy, innovation, scenario plan- ning, marketing strategy, customer service, market research and program evaluation, including custom programs for companies such as Blue Cross & Blue Shield, BMW, CSX, Fiberweb, Metso, Nissan, Verizon and Xerox. Matthew O'Connor is dean and professor of finance at Quinnipiac University. He has been at Quinnipiac since 1999 when he was appointed assistant professor of finance. From 2005 to 2008, he served as chair of the finance department. In 2008 he was appointed interim dean of the School of Busi- ness and in 2009 he was appointed dean. His teaching includes undergrad- uate and graduate courses in corporate finance, financial modeling, invest- ments and portfolio management. In 2005, O'Connor was honored with a Quinnipiac University Excellence in Teach- ing Award. O'Connor serves on the board of directors of United Methodist Homes, ReSET Social Enterprise Trust, and the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce. He is a corporator for Ion Bank. Laurie A. Whelan is the senior vice president and CFO of Hospital for Special Care, a long- term acute care hospital in New Britain. Whel- an has been with the hospital since 2003 and is responsible for the finance functions including health information management and informa- tion technology. In 2015, Whelan successfully terminated the hos- pital's pension plan favorably positioning the hospital. Prior to join- ing HSC, Whelan worked at ECHN Inc. (Manchester Memo- rial and Rockville General hospitals) as the vice president of finance, controller and previously as the business manager for the Visiting Nurse and Home Care of Man- chester, an affiliate of ECHN. Whelan started her finance career at Coo- pers & Lybrand working in the audit division focusing mostly on health care, secondary and college clients. Whelan resides in Windsor with her 19-year-old son Patrick who is a sophomore at Keene State. Whelan is interested in cook- ing, traveling and is an avid skier. Whelan received her bachelor's degree in account- ing from Central Connecticut State Univer- sity and currently serves on the New Britain High School Academy of Business & Finance Advisory Board.
