68 Worcester Business Journal • Giving Guide 2016 www.wbjournal.com While our programs and facilities are based on the unique needs and interests of our communities, every Y has one thing in common: our people. The volunteers, staff, members, partners and donors of the Y are all united by a deep commitment to make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve. Fundraising, volunteerism and advocacy are critical parts of social responsibility at the Y. They are the engines that make our work possible and help us increase our impact. We welcome all individuals, community leaders and business executives to join us in the following ways: • Join a Branch Board of Governors • Be a Chairperson for one of our many efforts, such a the Annual Campaign, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Annual Event, YMCA Annual Golf Classic and Mission in Motion • Serve on a special projects subcommittee • Help out on an event committee • Volunteer at a community event representing the Y • Serve as a mentor in the Minority Achievers Program YMCA of Central Massachusetts Future Goals Cause Statement: The YMCA of Central Massachusetts will strengthen the foundations of community through programs and services that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Diversity and Inclusion Vision Statement: The YMCA of Central Massachusetts ensures that all people are welcomed and fully engaged in the organization by nurturing and supporting an environment that reflects, celebrates and learns from the rich diversity of our shared global community. Organizational Priorities and Goals: Youth Development - The Y will be a community leader in maximizing the potential of all youth to lead a healthy and productive life. Healthy Living - The Y will be a lead catalyst in supporting individuals and families in their pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. Social Responsibility - The Y will provide and promote a culture that welcomes and embraces all people and supports them in maintaining and/or achieving a better life. Mission Advancement - The Y will provide the administrative, operational and financial resources necessary to achieve greater impact and advance its cause. As a leading nonprofit partner throughout the country, the Y has the track record and on-the-ground presence to move communities forward, just as we do here in Central Massachusetts. As a charity, we work every day to address community needs and ensure that all are welcome and that no one is turned away for an inability to pay. One-hundred percent of the dollars raised go directly to support youth, teens and families in Central Massachusetts through our Financial Assistance Program. In 2015, the Y provided over $2.0 million in community benefit to support children and families most in need of our services. We raise annual funds from individual, foundations, special events, our generous community and mission partners. Everyone can help make a difference and support our cause by participating in one of our annual events, make a gift or by contacting the Y to learn more. Volunteer Opportunities The YMCA Annual Campaign supports the Y's mission by raising much-needed funds. These funds provide financial assistance to youth, teens, individuals and families who would otherwise not be able to afford Y programs, such as after school care, child care, youth development initiatives, summer camp, adult fitness classes and membership assistance. At the Y, we believe our success will always be measured by the lives we impact. In celebration of our 150th Anniversary we have taken the opportunity to transform our organization with an $8.5 million capital campaign. With the help and support of our many mission partners, staff, volunteers, friends of our great Y, and you our beloved community, the renovation and expansion projects are nearing completion. There are still opportunities to support our campaign. To learn more and donate, visit us at www.ymcaofcm.org.
