The Plan is further complemented by the launch of our Third Century Plan Campaign and its goal to reinvigorate the EcoTarium campus and provide a New England focused, thematically cohesive educational experience by our 200th anniversary in 2025. Our strategic goals are advanced through: • Enhancing guest amenities and experiences indoors and outdoors • Increasing accessibility and diversity in all aspects throughout the institution • Raising awareness around the importance of science and nature, inspiring a deeper engagement • Developing long-term asset replacement and acquisition plans The Third Century Plan is comprised of four key initiatives: • Powering the Future: Decommissioning our aged power plant and building an energy-efficient mechanical plant • Explorer Express Train: Replacing 1-½ miles of new track • City Science: An exhibit where visitors can explore the modern city and investigate the science they encounter every day • Wild Cat Station: Brings mountain lions and other native species to our visitors As of September 1, 2016, we've raised $7.2 million of our $9.1 million Third Century Plan Campaign goal. Fundraising Events/Opportunities Become a sponsor, volunteer for an event, and purchase tickets to attend our popular events. Your participation supports our various programs and exhibits. Great Pumpkin Fest, October 22, 2016: The biggest Halloween celebration for families in Central Massachusetts, now in its 13th year and our largest community fundraiser. A Christmas Journey, December 3, 4, 10 and 11, 2016: Celebrate the holiday season with this Worcester tradition; cookies and crafts with Santa, and a ride on the Explorer Express Train. Noon Year's Eve, December 31, 2016: A festive celebration for children and their families to welcome the New Year with kid-friendly countdowns during the day. Earth Day, Friday April 21, 2017: Offering half-price admission, earth-friendly activities, green vendors and entertainment. A Night at the Museum, May 13, 2017: Science comes to life at night during our largest signature fundraising event of the year. Social Science Series, third Thursday of every month from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.: After-hours events for adults to enjoy food, music, and drink, and explore the EcoTarium's interactive exhibits and collections. Volunteer Opportunities We have volunteer opportunities to fit a multitude of interests, skills, and time commitments. As a volunteer, you will work alongside our talented staff acquiring new skills and knowledge in the areas that interest you most. Opportunities include: • Working with our staff to present interpretive programs that fascinate our guests • Representing the EcoTarium at outreach events, fairs and festivals • Spending time both indoors and outdoors maintaining our property or caring for our wildlife • Applying administrative and organizational skills behind the scenes, in our offices • Supporting special events like school vacation weeks, Earth Day and Great Pumpkin Fest We have service opportunities available for individual volunteers as well as for corporate groups and organizations.
