This plan is guided by our Vision 2020, which states that by that year, WAM will be a top cultural destination in New England, attracting over 200,000 visitors annually, playing a critical part in the cultural and economic vitality of the city of Worcester and emphasizing its unique narrative of connections…of people, cultures and histories with the here and now of a globalized world. WAM will make important progress in the coming year towards the following high-level goals as dictated in the 2016-2021 Long Range Plan: 1. Redefine the institution's mission and values 2. Build the corporation and board of tomorrow 3. Reach 200,000 visitors by 2020 4. Define the path for a sustainable mission Fundraising Events/Opportunities The Museum has a robust schedule of widely-promoted exhibitions, programs and events of all sizes and types for which financial support and in-kind donations are actively sought and prominently recognized as appropriate in all related written materials and public announcements. These include: • Annual Corporators Ball/Auction Fundraiser • Exhibitions, Opening Parties and Artist Talks • Themed Community Days, including Star Wars Day • Publications such as Access magazine and family and visitor guides • Seasonal and special events and programs such as Holidays at WAM, Flora in Winter, Senior September, Voting Day, First Night Worcester, and Art + Market • Ongoing events and programs such as Master Series Third Thursdays, Free Admission Days, Family Time Programs, Sunday Public Tours, and Saturday Zip Tours • Hands-on art making and eyes-on learning programs such as Arms & Armor demonstrations, Nude Drawing in the Galleries, WAM Studio Class Scholarships, Helmutt's House, and Art Carts Volunteer Opportunities Volunteers are an integral part of the Worcester Art Museum, empowering the fulfillment of its mission and providing invaluable connections to our community. Opportunities include: • Docents/Tour Guides (18-month training program and two-year commitment required) • Studio Class Assistants (year-round semester-based opportunities) • School Group Chaperones (academic year opportunities) • Event Greeters (event specific, short-term opportunities) • Mailing Stuffers (regularly recurring, short-term) • General Office Assistance (regularly occurring, short- term opportunities in various departments) • Museum Committee Volunteers (annual opportunities, varying schedules) Giving Opportunities As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, WAM relies on individual, corporate and foundation gifts and grants of all sizes to steward and make accessible its encyclopedic collection of art and artifacts "for the benefit of all."
