Christof says what separates C.M. from other contractors is not the skills of its crew, but their personable demeanor. Chartier is a member of the planning board and agricultural committee in Templeton, Knights of Columbus, Assumption College Alumni Association and Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce. What is your most significant pro- fessional goal? To always treat the members of our crew as friends, cogni- zant of their goals, strengths, trials and weak points. What would you like to tell your 10-year-old self? Don't be afraid to keep playing in the sandbox. The people I work with would tell you I...can be impatient and intense, but I am generally happy-go-lucky. Who is the fictional character you are most like? I like to think I have a lot in common with John Wayne, but my wife pointed out that he is not a fic- tional character. She suggested I'm most like George Bailey from "It's a Wonderful Life" because I am, in her words, "generous and loyal to a fault." (I knew I married her for a reason!) n As part of Corero's executive man- agement team, Weagle leads global marketing for brand, strategic posi- tioning and go-to-market activities. Under her direction, the firm estab- lished a new product category to help Corero emerge as a market leader in the hotly contested distributed denial of service security space – successfully challenging much larger incumbents. Weagle's strategy has made Corero a leading Central Massachusetts technol- ogy startup and enabled the company to cut through the noise in the clut- tered and competitive industry. By the time I am 50, I would like to accomplish...successfully raising two intelligent, thoughtful, respectful and independent young ladies. What is your advice to young business people? Bite off more than you can chew. There is no better learn- ing experience than stepping outside of your comfort zone. Why do you work in Central Massachusetts? Most high tech firms are inside the I-495 belt. The stars aligned at Corero, as living and work- ing your community has great benefits. What is the first impression you want to give people? Someone who has added value to their day. n Aubuchon became the fifth president and CEO of Aubuchon Hardware in 2015, focused on transforming it into the most convenient hometown hard- ware store chain. With more than 100 stores in the Northeast, he sees growth in the next 10 years in new markets, acquisitions and organic growth. He serves as president of Applewild School Board of Trustees and on the boards of W.E. Aubuchon Co., National Retail Hardware Assoc., Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts and North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce. What will the title of your mem- oirs be? "The More I Learn, The Less I Know" – because being a humble, life- long learner is worth pursuing. Who gave you the best advice? My dad told me more than half of any- thing in life is simply showing up. It reminds me of General George Patton's advice, "A good plan executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week." I prepare for the unexpected by... thinking. If you could have dinner with any four people, who would they be? My great-grandfather, who founded Aubuchon Hardware in 1908; Pope Francis; George Carlin; my mom. n Since rejoining her family's business in 2013, Hyder marketed its specialty food to an expanding customer base, resulting in a 20-percent sales increase in her first year. Hyder worked at Mediterranean Marketplace since child- hood, leaving for a decade after college to gain other experience, including for minor league baseball team Worcester Tornadoes and Friendly's Ice Cream. Hyder served Discover Central Massachusetts and Worcester Local First, and as a coach at Girls, Inc. Hyder dishes about food with Jordan Levy and Jim Polito on the radio station WTAG. Whose career would you like to emulate? Anthony "Spag" Borgatti – he built a business into a true destina- tion, putting Central Mass. on the map. What should older generations know about up-and-coming work- force? Young people bring new insight on how to reach today's consumer. Where do you get motivation? I watched my father work tirelessly to build this firm for the 35 years I have been alive, and that inspires me to make it stronger and better every day. If I hadn't gone down this career path, I would have liked to...be a cast member on "Saturday Night Live."
