Verrill Dana, a law fi rm in Portland, said Mark Googins, a partner with the fi rm, recently co-authored the Maine chap- ter of the American Bar Association's "Commercial Lending Law, Second Edition: A Jurisdiction-by-Jurisdiction Guide to U.S. and Canadian Law." e guide was updated to include all 50 U.S. states and Canada, as well as to refl ect new developments in statutory and case law as they pertain to commercial lending's growth since the recession in 2008. e fi rm also announced it was recently ranked second in the American Bar Association Health Law Section's " ird Annual Top-10 Recognition for the Northeast Region." U.S. News & World Report named Maine Medical Center in Portland a "Best Regional Hospital." In its 2016-17 survey of U.S. hos- pitals, it also recognized the hospital as one of only 63 out of more than 4,500 hospitals in the nation, and the only one in Maine, to be rated high performing across the board in nine procedures and conditions. In addition the hospital was recognized as high performing in nine out of nine proce- dures and conditions including abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve surgery, colon cancer surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, hip replacement, knee replace- ment and lung cancer surgery.
