This is a matching grant, with another $7,000 being committed to the effort by the Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor Joint Economic Development Committee. U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree said that the Atlantic Salmon Federation received a grant of nearly $393,000 from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to partially fi nance the removal of Coopers Mills Dam on the Sheepscot River in Whitefi eld to allow passage of Atlantic salmon, herring and other fi sh. Total cost of the project is estimated at $800,000. The First Bancorp, the parent company of First National Bank in Damariscotta, announced operating results for the quarter ended June 30, 2016, the best quarter in the bank's history. Net income was $4.6 million, up $550,000 or 13.5% from the second quarter of 2015 and earnings per common share on a fully diluted basis of 43 cents a share were up 5 cents or 13.2% from the same period in 2015. Tedford Housing, a nonprofi t agency in Brunswick working to fi nd solutions to end homelessness in Midcoast and central Maine, said it received $37,500 from Doree Taylor Charitable Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee; $15,000 from the John T. Gorman Foundation; and $8,000 from the Moser Family Foundation. The grants will be used to support operations. Maine Media Workshops + College in Rockport was selected as the perma- nent host of the Arnold Newman Prize for New Directions in Portraiture.
