Williams 2004 Winner List: Past Classes: 2004 What have you done professionally since winning 40 Under Forty? Since 2004, I have been blessed with key profes- sional accomplishments because of the guidance and mentorship of many. In 2005, I became the first African-American and Hispanic equity partner at Shipman & Goodwin in the firm's 90-plus year his- tory. I am now the head of the firm's product liability team, specializing in pharmaceutical and medical device litigation. I have lead national litigation and tried several cases to verdict in this time frame. In 2013-2014, I was chair of the Corporate Coun- sel Conference in Austin, Texas, for the National Bar Association's (NBA) Commercial Law Section, which focused on increasing diversity within the legal com- munity. During my tenure, the section was awarded Section of the Year from the NBA. I am currently serv- ing as a division director of 23 substantive committees for the American Bar Association, litigation section. In 2010, I was a chair of the ABA's Section of Litigation Annual Conference for Trial Lawyers in New York City. I have received the Preeminent AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell in 2010, the high- est possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards. In 2014, I received the NBA's Region II Excellence and Commitment Stalwart Service to the Bar Award. I was also fortunate enough to be inducted into the American Board of Trial Advo- cates in 2014. I have been listed as one of the Best Lawyers in America, New England Super Lawyers and Connecticut Super Lawyers. What charitable or community events are you involved in? I have taken great pride in working with the Pathfinder Youth Groups out of Hartford and South Windsor since 2001. This is a scouts group similar to Boy Scouts, but through the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. I work with over 60 youth and teach them life skills and focus on the discipline of drilling. In 2014, I led a combined team of Pathfinders to the Inter- national Drill Competi- tion in Wisconsin, where the Hartford Pathfinders came in second place. This year, a new group of Pathfinders from Hart- ford came in second place in the Atlantic Union Conference Camporee in Rhode Island. There is nothing more valuable than investing my time in the future of our city and country.
