Meagher, smeagher@nebusinessmedia.com In March, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation released its 2015 Massachusetts Health Reform Survey. While nearly 96 percent of Massachusetts adults of working age have health insur- ance, nearly half of them are having trouble accessing care in a timely manner. Here are some of the sur- vey's findings: • 57.3 percent of Massachusetts adults reported they had employer- sponsored insurance coverage in the fall of 2015, compared to 63.5 per- cent in 2013. • Health coverage not sponsored by employers rose, from 31.7 percent in 2013 to 38.3 percent in 2015. • 73 percent of Massachusetts adults have dental insurance. • 37.2 percent of full-year insured adults reported they did not get the care they needed in the past 12 months. That rate was higher for low-income adults. • 18.3 percent of full-year insured adults reported problems paying their medical bills in the past year, down from 19.6 percent in fall 2013. -Laura Finaldi Blue Cross study finds more adults without employer health coverage Jane Barnes, senior marketing specialist at Harvard Pilgrim, and Jim Donahue, CEO and president of Old Sturbridge Village, where the insurer donated $22,500 to fund a wagon for people with disabilities.
