Meagher, smeagher@nebusinessmedia.com Hopkinton solar installer and developer Solect Energy this year launched its Solar Service program, which offers operations and maintenance services for solar panels. Solect has been performing these services for clients for years, but Solar Service brings together a specific team under a formalized program and extends services to any third-party installed commercial-scale installation. Venturing into the service space was the natural next step for the company, said Steve Bianchi, general manager, especially because solar systems are becoming more and more popular and maintaining them is becoming increasingly important. "We have extensive solar service experience, and with investments we have made this past year we are positioned to fulfill operations and maintenance needs to more solar system owners," Bianchi said in a press release. Solect broadened its service team with several new employees and diagnostics tools to better analyze solar panel performance. A team of seasoned solar professionals with a focus on coordination, maintenance and monitoring service is now in place. Services include preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, solar performance monitoring, SREC management and net metering management. Solect is currently managing 22 installations under the program, which it says has grown rapidly since it was implemented in January with a slow rollout. Clients include Carlstrom Pressed Metals' 625 kW solar field in Westborough. - Laura Finaldi Solect launches operations and maintenance service
