Meagher, smeagher@nebusinessmedia.com The board of directors of Elder Services of Worcester Area, Inc. selected Maureen Siergie, a 36-year veteran of the nonprofit, to serve at its next executive director beginning this fall. Siergie began her career at Elder Services in 1980 and became assistant director in 1993. She succeeds longtime executive director Lou Swan, who has led the organization since 1991 and will retire in September 2016. Since Siergie joined the organization, she has contributed immensely to its growth and success, according to the nonprofit. She has a bachelor's degree in urban studies as well as a master's degree in nonprofit management from Worcester State University. She is also a licensed social worker. "We had an eight-person board committee that reviewed and ranked all the resumes and interviewed three finalists," said ESWA President Paul Bowler. "Ms. Siergie was our unanimous choice; she impressed the committee with her depth of knowledge, strategic vision and passion for our agency's mission." Elder Services, located at 67 Millbrook St., Suite 100 in Worcester, serves elders and families in Central Massachusetts and parts of MetroWest. The organization has 220 staff, 500 volunteers and a subcontracted vendor network of 55 direct service contracts. They assist more than 14,000 individuals annually. The nonprofit serves clients in Auburn, Barre, Boylston, Grafton, Hardwick, Holden, Leicester, Millbury, New Braintree, Oakham, Paxton, Rutland, Shrewsbury, West Boylston and Worcester, with the protective services department covering Northborough, Marlborough, Southborough, Westborough and Hudson. - Laura Finaldi Worcester nonprofit appoints new executive director Maureen Siergie
