WHEN: June 7- 8, 2016 | WHERE: Omni Parker House The entire Pagourgis family – down to its pug Sirius Black, who serves as com- pany mascot – is committed to fitness and nutrition. Two years ago, wife-and-hus- band team Barbara and Tony Pagourgis founded Commit Fitness in Leominster. Since the founding, the couple has worked with local physical therapists, chiroprac- tors, massage therapists and other health professionals to provide a comprehensive and solid program, so they feel confident sending their patients and clients to for follow-on care. The company judges itself by its member retention rate, which has remained high since 2014. As owners of a family-owned and oper- ated business, Barbara and Tony work seven days a week together, but take care to keep Saturday nights and Sunday after- noon for themselves, usually enjoying dinner together Saturday nights. Sunday afternoons are usually spent preparing nutritious meals for the week ahead. These times are very important to them. Their daughter Brittany is the yoga instructor at Commit Fitness, in addition to her day job as a social worker for the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families in Leominster. The couple's other child, Matt, lives in California, but he helps on the marketing side of the busi- ness by writing and creating the fitness videos that are posted on the Commit Fitness website and social media. Clark-Cutler-McDermott was found- ed in 1911 in Franklin, originally con- ceived to make horse blankets. As times have changed, so has the company, evolving to focus on other products like inexpensive rugs and matting for minia- ture golf courses. Today, the bulk of its business is sound-and-vibration dead- ening panels for automobiles. Clark- Cutler-McDermott still calls Franklin home, but it has three manufacturing facilities on its single 250,000-square- foot campus in Franklin plus locations in North Carolina and Michigan. Now in its fourth generation as a fam- ily business, Clark-Cutler-McDermott is run by the father-and-son team of Thomas and James McDermott. The company won the General Motors Supplier of the Year award two years in a row, out of more than 20,000 GM auto suppliers worldwide. The award honors firms that have high marks in innova- tion, quality, customer support and competitive costs. Large Family Business Clark-Cutler-McDermott Co.
