www.wbjournal.com May 9, 2016 • Worcester Business Journal 5 UPS signs 7-year, 15K square foot lease in West Boylston The United Parcel Service has signed on to locate a regional driver training and education center at a 15,000 square- foot space in West Boylston. The delivery service has signed a sev- en-year lease at 99 Hartwell St. in West Boylston, according to a release from Glickman Kovago & Jacobs, who repre- sented the landlord. The property will be used as a training facility and has been outfitted to meet the tenant's needs. These changes include an office, class- room, high bay 20-28 ft. clear training area, and a one acre outdoor driving course. UPS was represented by Brian Pinch from Jones Lang Lasalle. Lakeway Commons groundbreaking set for June The groundbreaking fanfare marking the official beginning of construction at the Lakeway Commons site that will host a Whole Foods, offices and housing in Shrewsbury at the former site of Spag's retail store will take place in June. The groundbreaking set for June 7 will include several dignitaries, including Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito, according to a repre- sentative from Lakeway Commons. The groundbreaking kicks off the building of a 375,000-square-foot mixed-use development that will be made up of 100,000 square feet of retail, 250 apartments, 14 town homes and anchored by a 50,000-square-foot Whole Foods. The demolition and site work is expected to take approximately four to six weeks. Clark's Small Business Development Center recognized for service Clark University's Central Regional Small Business Development Center has been named the winner of the 2016 SBDC Service Center Excellence and Innovation Award for Massachusetts by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for its work providing assistance to small businesses throughout the region. "The center provided over 3,300 hours of business advisory services to 649 clients," said Robert Nelson, SBA Massachusetts District Director, in a statement. "This data is important because it translates into the creation and retention of over 1,200 jobs for the Commonwealth." The Clark University SBDC has been in operation for 35 years, provid- ing many traditional services for help- ing entrepreneurs grow and succeed. However, the organization also includes additional services such as 10 outreach locations that are maintained throughout Central Massachusetts, making it easy for clients to meet with a business adviser. Specialist. $87M Holy Cross Athletic Complex renovation moving to next phase of development Holy Cross is preparing for the next phase of the renovation of the Hart Athletic Center with Saturday's dedi- cation of the Luth Althletic Complex. The renovation of the athletic com- plex and field house, which will cost approximately $87 million, is being funded in part by a $32.5 million donation from alumnus John E. Luth and his wife, Dr. Joanne Chouinard- Luth. The donation that was received last year was the largest in the school's his- tory. Luth is a 1974 graduate and founder, CEO and chairman of Seabury Group, a global advisory and investment com- pany specializing in the aviation and aerospace industries. The new athletic complex is one of the six main initiatives of the college's ongoing $400 million fundraising cam- paign "Become More: Campaign for the Future of Holy Cross." The importance of the athletic com- plex is highlighted by the recent March Madness run of the Holy Cross men's basketball team, according to a release from the school.
