Among Massachusetts women who hold full time, year-round jobs, African American women are paid 61 cents, Latinas are paid 50 cents and Asian-American women are paid 80 cents for every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men. The analysis spans all 50 states, find- ing that Massachusetts fared better than the national average of 79 cents per dol- lar. Staples sells off print division In an ongoing effort to appease federal regulators and move towards the acqui- sition of Office Depot, Framingham office retailer Staples has sold off a piece of its business for an undisclosed amount. The sale was announced by Minnesota-based Taylor Corp. The pri- vately held company will take over the assets of Staples' business printing ser- vices. The move comes as Staples continues to push for the purchase of Office Depot amid anti-trust concerns by selling off different portions of the company and its contracts. EMC official Olympics data storage provider Hopkinton data storage firm EMC has announced it has been selected by NBC Olympics to support media covering the Rio de Janeiro Olympics this August, becoming the event's official data stor- age provider. The deal -- with undisclosed financial terms -- with EMC will have NBC Olympics making use of EMC's compa- ny's digital storage to deliver high-reso- lution images and uncompressed files to its live television and online broadcasts of the 2016 Summer Olympics, accord- ing to a release from EMC. The architec- ture of the products allows use across different continents. Two 560-terabyte EMC Isilon NL 400 clusters will be located onsite in Rio, allowing easy access for on-air broadcast- ing and online posting. These two clus- ters will also be used on site for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea. New York City information-technolo- gy provider Presidio will be used by NBC for engineering support and ser- vices for the design, implementation, delivery and ongoing support for the EMC systems. State paid banned providers for ser- vices, opiate prescriptions MassHealth made payments to seven "prohibited providers" for opiate, amphetamines and other controlled sub- stances, according to audit results recently released. Auditors found the massive publicly funded health insurance program paid $50,682 for 3,445 claims for prescrip- tions written by the seven banned pro- viders, according to Auditor Suzanne Bump's office. Auditors learned that 12 excluded providers were paid for 5,534 claims for medical services for 1,802 MassHealth members. Most of the claims were made by managed care organizations, the audit said. EMC posts 'solid' Q1 performance; gives $227M to shareholders Hopkinton-based EMC Corp. has posted $5.5 billion in revenue in the first quarter, distributing $227 million to shareholders as its purchase by Dell con- tinues to move ahead on schedule. EMC reported its first quarter 2016 financial results recently, posting a 2 percent year-over-year decline in reve- nue for the quarter, but earnings up 8 percent per-share year-over-year at $0.14 per diluted share. EMC generated $932 million in oper- ating cash flow and $588 million in free cash flow in the first quarter, ending the quarter with $15 billion in cash and investments. In a statement, Joe Tucci, EMC chair- man and CEO, described the first quar- ter as "solid" and in line with expecta- tions. He said that as the IT sector con- tinues to reshape itself, the company's new platforms "are increasingly gaining momentum, and we are confident in the depth and breadth of our product port- folio."
