6 Business Profiles 2016 Worcester Business Journal www.wbjournal.com A fter graduating from Nichols College in Dudley, Rob Cleary chose not to go job- hunting; rather, he decided that he would be the employer and founded ClearCom IT Solutions. Now, fifteen years later, the wisdom of that decision is clear. "ClearCom was created to fill the gap between having a technical support company and understanding your business. So we launched with the intention of being your technology partner, not just a technical support company," he says. "Our goal is to deliver excellence in the latest network technologies and serve as your tech- nology partner, providing you with enterprise level sup- port and automation, regardless of the size of your company." Cleary explains that ClearCom operates under a man- aged services model, which aligns the interests of the company with those of its clients. "ClearCom's Managed IT services is a proactive approach to keeping your com- puters, servers and technology systems up and running. The responsibility and risk associated with managing your IT systems shifts to ClearCom," he says. "Traditionally a 'break-fix' support model works a lot like a plumber – you call them when something breaks. But in a managed services model, we proactively provide maintenance to achieve optimal network stability." Companies that utilize ClearCom benefit from having the resources of an entire IT department, but at a frac- tion of the cost of supporting an in-house department. "By engaging in ClearCom Managed Services, customers have the advantage of our monitoring systems that watch over your network, servers, laptops and desktops, 24/7," he says. "We aim to ensure your network operates clean- ly and smoothly in order to prevent any problems before they happen. In the event an issue arises and an onsite technician is needed, we pride ourselves on unbeatable response time and our ability to resolve the issue effi- ciently." In 2005, ClearCom started offering managed services to its clients and since then have had 100 percent con- tract renewal, an achievement that positions the compa- ny as one of the leading IT providers in Central New England. But ClearCom has expanded well beyond the Commonwealth's borders and services clients in California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, New York and Vermont. Initially, ClearCom focused on residential customers and had approximately 700 at one point. The success the company achieved with this sector enabled ClearCom to shift its focus to business clients. The firm currently serves several industries, including manufacturing, municipalities, service businesses, automobile dealer- ships, accounting and legal services, schools, insurance agencies and retail. While the staff at ClearCom works hard, it also embraces the philosophy that the work place should be fun and encourages a teamwork culture. "We try to cre- ate a fun atmosphere in which we build camaraderie," Cleary says. "We believe when our employees enjoy their work, they pass their enthusiasm along to our clients." This philosophy is apparently paying off. Cleary reports that revenue has grown steadily since 2001 and, in the last three years, ClearCom has experienced very significant growth. n ClearCom IT Solutions, Inc.: Your Technology Partner L E I C E S T E R , M A ClearCom IT Solutions, Inc.
