She will be responsible for overseeing and engaging in the company's creative product. She previously worked at The VIA Agency in Portland, Maine. HILARY GARDNER was promoted to human resources manager at the DAVIS Cos. in Marlborough. She has more than 15 years experience in staffing and has been with the company for 10 years, most recently as learning & development manager. In her new role, she will oversee a team of four and will be responsible for corporate compliance, employee relations, strategic leadership, risk management, benefits and culture development and preservation. KIMBERLY LENZ , a clinical pharmacy manager in UMass Medical School's Commonwealth Medicine Division, was appointed to the New England Comparative Effectiveness Public Advisory Council of the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review. The council reviews the institute's reports at public meetings and recommends how patients, clinicians, insurers and policymakers can improve the quality and value of health care. At UMass Medical, she is the clinical pharmacy manager for MassHealth as well as an assistant professor of family and community health. LARISSA C. THURSTON has been promoted to chief operating officer, chief financial officer and senior vice president of finance at St. Mary's Credit Union in Marlborough. She joined the credit union in 2014 and previously served as vice president and controller of a commercial bank in southern New Hampshire. In her new role, she oversees information technology, marketing, operations and human resources in addition to her previous responsibilities at the bank. Congressman James McGovern won the Award of Courage; Linda Cavaioli, executive director, YWCA of Central Massachusetts, won the Social Justice Advocacy and Action Award; Senator Harriette Chandler won the Public Service Award; Lori Wentworth won the Volunteer Award; The Youth and Young Adult Award went to Griffin Sivret; and Pagio Inc. won the Corporate Award. Safe Homes is a program serving LGBTQ youth. n Amy K. Weinstock, director of UMass Medical School's Autism Insurance Resource Center, will be presented with the Martha Zeigler Founders Award during an awards event in Boston on May 13. The annual award is given by the Federation for Children with Special Needs. The parent of a young adult on the autism spectrum, Weinstock established the resource center in 2011. n James A. Valis, an advisor at Blackstone Valley Wealth Management in Hopkinton, was named to LPL's Freedom Club, an honor bestowed by LPL Financial, based in Boston. This distinction is based on annual production among approximately 14,000 advisors registered nationwide. n James Beauregard, Auburn Department of Public Works; Cathy Flink-Harrison, Worcester Public Schools; Patricia Hainsworth, Worcester Senior Center; Brian Hickey, Holden Municipal Light Department; and Sgt. Miguel Lopez, of the Worcester Police Department were chosen for Thomas S. Green Public Service Awards by the Worcester Regional Research Bureau's 12-member awards committee. A ceremony will be held at Assumption College in Worcester on Thursday. n ERA Key Realty Services of Whitinsville was given a Cartus Five Star Award by the Cartus Corp., an employee relocation company, at its annual conference in Florida. The award recognizes brokers who have met or exceeded goals for outgoing broker-to-broker referral closings during the calendar year. n The Massachusetts Small Business Development Center Network at Clark University in Worcester was chosen for a Small Business Development Center of Excellence and Innovation Award. The award will be presented by the Small Business Association of Massachusetts next month. SARAH A. DAY is now assistant vice president, commercial loan officer at St. Mary's Credit Union in Marlborough. She joined St. Mary's in 2010 as marketing manager and joined the commercial lending team in 2013. She is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Nichols College, receiving her master's in business administration. RICHARD LePAGE is now superintendent at JM Coull Inc. in Maynard. He joins the firm from A/Z Corporation in Westborough. In his new role, he will oversee phase two of the Discovery Woods project at the Discovery Museums in Acton, an ADA- compliant outdoor playscape that will feature a treehouse as its centerpiece. KYLE RENAUD is now assistant superintendent at JM Coull Inc. in Maynard. He will support operations for several JM Coull projects, including the $12.6-million gym and fine arts center expansion at Whitinsville Christian School and a 10,000-square-foot lobby renovation at the Natick headquarters of Cognex Corp. He came to JM Coull from Cutler Associates in Worcester. MELISSA BAAR is now assistant vice president at Webster Five in Webster. She will be responsible for managing the collection of delinquent installment loans and mortgage loans, representing the bank at foreclosures, submitting active charged-off loans to third-party agents, and providing guidance to the collections staff. She joined the bank in 2014 as the collection manager. SHERMAN WHITMAN has joined WPKZ AM 1280 and 105.3 FM in Fitchburg as a co-host and sports anchor for the K-Zone Morning Kommute with Travis Condon.
