Thus the Anti-Defamation League was founded. Although progress has been made, ADL begins its second century knowing that our work remains necessary, timely and relevant. Extremist hatred and threats, discrimination against marginalized groups and bias in our communities still need to be addressed. The theme to our second century is Imagine a World Without Hate — a dream we hope to make a reality. ADL is dedicated to making our country a more inclusive home for all; where being different is not a liability, and diversity is a cherished strength. ADL believes that the best way to end hate is through education programs. As a leading provider of anti-bias training and resources, the ADL's A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute offers innovative programming for schools to develop a comprehensive approach to prevent and intervene against name- calling, bullying and cyberbullying as part of a broader strategy to create safe schools for all students where they learn to not only stand up for themselves but for others as well. Acknowledged as a premier civil rights and human relations agency, ADL is headquartered in New York and fulfills its mission through a network of 27 Regional Offices (including Connecticut) and an office in Israel. We are uniquely positioned to provide resources and programs to counter hatred, promote diversity and build bridges of communication, understanding and respect among diverse groups. ADL serves as a resource for government, media, law enforcement, educators and the public. Join us in taking action against hate and bigotry. Together, we will continue to change hearts and minds … one student, one classroom, one family, one community at a time. GOALS • Increase the number of board, civil rights and education committee members who will actively work with us to promote ADL's mission throughout the state and serve as our "eyes and ears" in the local community. • Raise additional dollars to support and expand our essential programs and services throughout the state of Connecticut. • Advocate for legislative reform on issues of bias, discrimination and hate. • Attract the support and involvement of corporations that value inclusion and diversity. • Inform educators and parents about ADL's free downloadable resources which address issues of bias and bullying using current events. • Serve as a resource for law enforcement officials on hate groups, extremism and domestic terrorism by providing training and sharing our publications. • Provide training to students and adults for how to address anti- Semitic speech and incidents. • Insure the security of Jewish communal institutions.
