4 University of Hartford's Entrepreneurial Center | Women's Business Center
The center specializes in serving the
needs of entrepreneurial women and
women-owned businesses. At the
Women's Business Center (WBC),
funded in part by a grant from the
Small Business Administration,
women business owners take
advantage of resources tailored
to their unique learning styles and
specific needs. Women benefit
from WBC programming to learn
time management and organization
skills; identify capital needs and find
financing; streamline operations;
get certified and win government
contracts; grow sales; expand to new
markets; and more. Participants in the
Women's Business Roundtable work
with a professional advisor to stay on
track with their goals while positioning
their company for growth. The Power
and Progress Women's Business
Symposium is an annual women's
networking and training event. The
WBC also participates in special events,
such as an annual conference on money
and several other area conferences,
designed with women in mind.
WOMEN'S BUSINESS CENTER
Working with the women that come to the center has been one
of the most rewarding experiences in my career. Their drive and
passion, tenacity and resilience, strength and enthusiasm are
contagious. Whether listening to dreams and ideas in a class,
addressing issues and obstacles in a counseling appointment, or
attending a Women's Business Roundtable session, the stories I
hear inspire, motivate, and challenge.
It is exciting to be part of an organization with a great history
and a wonderful team of staff and supporters, especially at a
time when women entrepreneurs are making significant strides.
Despite the record growth of women-owned businesses, there
are still many challenges to overcome, including in areas of
contracting and access to capital.
Please join us in celebrating all the women in the WBC family.
I thank the Small Business Administration and all our partners for
supporting us and them!
Sincerely,
