BUILDING STRONGER
COMMUNITIES TOGETHER
For any small business owner,
understanding the importance of
business numbers and the stories
they tell is critical. The center's
new Financial Fitness series
features free workshops and paid
seminar sessions on important
financial issues, such as financial
statements and accounting basics;
types and sources of financing;
establishing and rebuilding credit;
risk management and business
insurance; tax planning; buying
and selling the business; and
many more.
The workshops and seminars
combine comprehensive training
from subject matter experts with
technical assistance and access
to online and other resources.
Speakers include Barney faculty,
lenders, accounting and insurance
professionals, among others.
Participants learn practical tips
to implement in their business
and an increased knowledge and
confidence level to better manage
their operations.
The center's Power and Progress
Business Women's Symposium is an
annual event, held in January. The
event is a positive start to each new
year
—a chance for attendees to
reflect on their past year in business
and plan for the year ahead. A local,
motivating female keynote speaker
is featured each year, sharing her
successful entrepreneurial story and
the valuable wisdom that comes
with it.
At Power and Progress,
women come to network, meet
like-minded individuals, and gain
valuable practical knowledge.
The symposium kicks off the next
round of the Women's Business
Roundtable (WBR) program with a
related topic and the opportunity for
new WBR participants to register.
Business women in attendance
leave the symposium energized,
educated, supported, and inspired.
The Hartford and ACCION deliver valuable
information to new small business owners.
