Too often, people with disabilities and the people caring for them feel isolated. With the help of Pine Tree Society, they're not alone. SERVICE LOCATION(S) The state of Maine 2016 GOALS Pine Tree Society's founders shared a philosophy: to continuously evolve to meet the unmet needs of Maine people with disabilities and their families through innovative services. is commitment is alive today, 79 years later, as the organization continues to expand to address unmet needs. Pine Tree Society is focused on three key areas for development: services to help young people with autism transition to adulthood; meaningful work opportunities for adults with disabilities; and supportive education opportunities for families caring for children with disabilities. At the same time, Pine Tree Society continues to evolve its current services including, but not limited to, sign language interpreting Assistive Technology and case management to best meet the needs of the people it serves. For the past five years, Pine Tree Society has been focused on modernizing Pine Tree Camp, an extraordinary summer camp that has been transforming the lives of Maine children and adults with disabilities since 1945. With the $6.6 million capital campaign goal met, Pine Tree Camp's Master Plan will be complete in June 2016. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES Pine Tree Society's special events are focused on raising money to support Pine Tree Camp's Campership Fund. Since it opened in 1945, Pine Tree Camp has welcomed all who could benefit from a barrier-free summer camp opportunity regardless of their ability to pay the $1,900 tuition. Last year, Pine Tree Camp provided nearly 99% of its 650 campers with full or partial tuition assistance. e Open Door Policy remains firmly in place, thanks in part to the support of participants and business sponsors throughout Maine. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Pine Tree Society has a full range of meaningful volunteer opportunities that directly impact Maine people with disabilities.
