SERVICE LOCATION(S) The Iris Network serves the entire state of Maine. We also welcome participants to our rehabilitation center from across the U.S. The Iris Network 2016 GOALS We have delivered services at the forefront of the fi eld of vision rehabilitation therapy for over 100 years. 2016 Goals f Ramp up enrollment in our new vocational training center to prepare participants for employment. f Introduce specialized assessments in the low vision clinic to provide a fi ner determination of remaining functional vision. f Begin outreach to individuals who are blind and visually impaired and reside outside of Maine. f Work side-by-side with Avesta Housing to recruit eligible residents who are blind or visually impaired to live at Iris Park Apartments – the fi rst in Maine designed for residents with vision loss. f Continue to provide integrated vision rehabilitation services to individuals ranging in age from teens to centenarians. f Integrate access technology in all of our rehabilitation services from home management to employment. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/OPPORTUNITIES The White Cane Walk for Independence is held every year on the third Saturday in October (in Portland). e Walk raises awareness of the white cane and guide dog as mobility tools for the blind and awareness of Maine's White Cane Law. It is e Iris Network's signature fundraiser. SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES f The White Cane Walk for Independence: aff ords high visibility and dem- onstrates a commitment to Maine's blind and visually impaired community. f Helen Keller Giving Circle: We honor our fi rst fundraiser's spirit and drive by inviting those who sustain the organization with a donation of $1,000 annually to join. f Planned Giving: A bequest through a will is the most common planned gift.
