Gardner-based Heywood Healthcare honored 229 employees for their service to Heywood and Athol Hospitals, Winchendon Health Center, Heywood Rehabilitation Center and Heywood Medical Group. Rose Kavalchuck and Betsy Turczynski mark 40 years at Heywood Hospital; Les Henley received recognition for 45 years at Athol Hospital. The Daniel P. Moen Employee Excellence Award was given to 15-year employee Lucille Diemdowicz. VNA Care Network & Hospice of Worcester earned a four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Twenty percent of home health agencies nationwide received a 4-star rating or better. Dennis A. McCurdy of The McCurdy Group of Sturbridge completed the annual continuing education requirement of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. The Morse Stroll, a commemorative walking path surrounding Elm Park in Worcester, was dedicated to honor Dr. Leonard Morse, former commissioner of the Worcester Division of Public Health. Dr. Morse, who retired in 2011, served as a president of Worcester District Medical Society and its parent organization, the Massachusetts Medical Society.
