62 Worcester Business Journal • Giving Guide 2015 www.wbjournal.com While our programs and facilities are based on the unique needs and interests of our communities, every Y has one thing in common: our people. The volunteers, staff, members, partners and donors of the Y are all united by a deep commitment to make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve. Fundraising, volunteerism and advocacy are critical parts of social responsibility at the Y. They are the engines that make our work possible and help us increase our impact. We welcome all individuals, community leaders and business executives to join us in the following ways: • Join a Branch Board of Governors • Be a Chairperson for one of our many efforts, such as the Annual Campaign, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Annual Event, YMCA Annual Golf Classic and Mission in Motion • Serve on a special projects subcommittee • Help out on an event committee • Volunteer at a community event representing the Y • Serve as a mentor in the Minority Achievers Program YMCA of Central Massachusetts Future Goals 150th Anniversary Capital Campaign The YMCA of Central Massachusetts strengthens the foundations of our community through programs and services that focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. In celebration of our150th Anniversary we boldly seize the opportunity to transform our organization with an $8.5 million capital campaign. Highlights of this campaign include: • A Teen Achievement Center at our Central Community Branch to help build the leaders of tomorrow with new and innovative technology, rock climbing and wellness space. • An Outdoor Aquatics Complex at our Boroughs Family Branch for more swim lessons, lap swimming, family recreation and games, and swim time for summer campers. • An Expanded Wellness Center at our Greendale Family Branch with a new functional training zone to offer diverse and innovative fitness programs for people of all ages to meet their fitness goals. • An Amphitheatre at Camp Lowe in Lancaster for diverse summer programming. • Shore Park on Indian Lake – revitalizing Shore Park on Indian Lake as a waterfront family destination. • And, the opening of our neighborhood YMCA in Leominster to meet the increased needs for Y programs and services. As a leading nonprofit partner throughout the country, the Y has the track record and on-the-ground presence to move communities forward, just as we do here in Central Massachusetts. As a charity, we work every day to address community needs and ensure that all are welcome and that no one is turned away for an inability to pay. One-hundred percent of the dollars raised go directly to support youth, teens and families in Central Massachusetts through our Financial Assistance Program. In 2014, the Y provided over $2.0 million in community benefit to support children and families most in need in our community. We raise annual funds from individuals, foundations, special events and our generous community and mission partners. Everyone can help make a difference and support our cause by participating in one of our annual events, making a gift or by contacting the YMCA of Central Massachusetts to learn more. Visit our website at www.ymcaofcm.org for details of programs, events, volunteer and giving opportunities. Volunteer Opportunities The YMCA Annual Campaign supports the Y's mission by raising much-needed funds. These funds provide financial assistance to youth, teens, individuals and families who would otherwise not be able to afford Y programs, such as after school care, child care, youth development initiatives, summer camp, adult fitness classes and membership assistance. At the Y, we believe our success will always be measured by the lives we impact. Here are some of the many ways you can help support our cause: • Annual Campaign • Bequests and Planned Giving • Capital/Special Projects • Community Partnerships and Collaborations • Corporate/Individual Event Sponsors • In-Kind Contributions • Matching Gifts • Restricted Gifts • Special Appeals • Support Community YMCA Events • Underwriting of Event Costs • Workplace Giving When you donate to the YMCA of Central Massachusetts you are giving to our cause – to strengthen the foundations of our community.
