To improve the lives of veterans and their families by expanding capacity and services to meet needs. 2. To reduce homelessness among veterans and their families by providing the housing and support services needed to prevent and/or end homelessness. 3. To open our newly licensed outpatient clinic and provide specialized counseling to veterans and their family members in a supportive environment. 4. To continue to find and implement new programs and services for new veterans and returning military service members suffering from issues related to pre/post- deployment, readjustment, reintegration, traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress – as well as their family members during and post-deployment. 5. To expand our nationally recognized Employment & Training Program to assist new veterans and returning military service members to include utilizing education benefits, enrolling in an institution of higher education, and/ or obtaining meaningful employment. 6. To improve and expand services for veterans facing the debilities of aging. 7. To continue to find and implement new wellness programs and services to assist female veterans and veterans with families. Fundraising Events/Opportunities Freedom Song Festival, Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 11am to 4pm at Veterans Inc., 59 South St., Shrewsbury - a family-friendly outdoor event featuring children's activities and entertainment. Rain or shine. Veterans Memorial 5K Road Race & Walk – Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Veterans Inc., 59 South St., Shrewsbury. Race Starts at 9am. Veterans Day Pancake Breakfast – Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Veterans Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester. Enjoy a great breakfast and thank our veterans in person before the parade honoring their service to our country. 19th Annual Best Ball Charity Golf Classic – Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Heritage Country Club, Charlton. Steak dinner, raffles, prizes and golf! Gala Military Ball – Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Historic Armory, 44 Salisbury St., Worcester. Volunteer Opportunities There are many opportunities to volunteer your time, skills, and knowledge to help veterans and include: • Driving veterans to and from their appointments • Assisting with fundraising events • Running a food, clothing or toiletry drive • Facilitating events for veterans, such as cookouts, movie nights, sport activities, health and wellness programs (yoga or nutrition workshops), and outings (fishing trips, nature walks) • Helping with the Food Pantry or daily hot meals program • Teaching a class in your field (money management, healthcare) • Offering administrative support or helping with repairs and maintenance of our grounds and facilities • Greeting volunteers and visitors at our headquarters in Worcester For more information, please contact our volunteer coordinator at volunteer@veteransinc.org or at 508-791-1213 x196. Giving Opportunities Veterans Inc. could not provide the level of services it does without the generous contributions of individuals and businesses. To help our veterans, you can contribute money, sponsor or take part in our fundraising events (see Fundraising Opportunities), give of your time (see Volunteer Opportunities), and provide in-kind donations of food, clothing, vehicles and more. The Veterans Inc. Annual Fund provides critical ongoing support of our programs and services with the greatest need. Unrestricted gifts to the annual fund are an important source of steady income.
