Today, girls continue to encounter significant obstacles to their well-being and success. • 47% of girls are ages 12-18, a reflection of our focus on serving girls during developmentally crucial years of middle and high school. Girls ages 9-11 make up 31% of service and girls 8 and younger are 22%. • 71% identify as girls of color, including 28% who identify as African American/Black, 27% Latina/ Hispanic, and 11% as Multiracial. • 66% of the girls we serve live in families earning $25,000 or less a year. 70% live in a household with a single parent. • 1 in 4 girls will not finish high school • 78% of girls are unhappy with their bodies by age 17 • 3 in 10 girls will become pregnant before the age of 20 • 1 in 5 girls will be a victim of childhood sexual abuse G irl Inc. of Worcester serves girls ages 5-18 fr om diverse et hnic, racial, and socio-economic backgr ounds.
