Since its inception, not only has the company doubled in size, but my roles have changed to take on the responsibilities of the controller. I was owner of a successful dance studio for 12 years; many of my students competed and won regional and national competitions. Community involvement: Currently, I am secretary on the board of directors of The Montessori Children's House of Southbridge. I am also secretary and registrar of Worcester Junior Sharks Youth Hockey, as well as manager of both my sons' teams. The process of becoming a business owner was new to me. I had never worked in marketing, management or business development, but I was deter- mined to own a salon that strived not only to meet clients' expectations, but exceed them. In 2011, with the help of my husband, family, and friends, I opened Salon Exquisite, which now has five employees and over 1,000 clients. Community involvement: I am a board member for the Young Professional Women's Association of Worcester, membership coordinator for The Professional Women's Networking Group of Central Mass., and an active member of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce. My stylists and I love to help those in need, so we pro- vide free services for many community events. Ultimate career goal: To have the most popular salon in Worcester, educate styl- ists, work behind the chair and market the salon. Community involvement: I've been March for Babies Team Captain, Sullivan Benefits Team, for the past 10 years, rais- ing $155,000; corporator at the Worcester Art Museum, as well as president of the Members Council and co-chair of the Corporators Ball; Worcester Academy Alumni committee member; and President's Council member at College of the Holy Cross. Ultimate career goal: Become one of the best in my field, and continue to develop and maintain outstanding rela- tionships among colleagues and clients while balancing my family, community and love for travel. Non-relative you admire most: I have great admiration for Chrystine Heier and Gary Goodhile, small-business owners who gave me a chance. Hidden talents: I can bake — carrot cakes and cookies are a hit. And I know how to operate such heavy equipment as farm tractors, plow trucks and backhoes.
