www.wbjournal.com August 3, 2015 • Worcester Business Journal 3 For better or worse, public policy — be it at the federal, state or municipal level — makes up a significant part of our coverage of all things business. That's just par for the course when you do business, especially in Massachusetts. As journalists, gathering information in the public realm is relatively easy given its broader availability, plus the fact that it's more widely exposed through other media. It's a good time of the year to publish a Focus section on business and public policy with, for example, the recent passage of a new state budget, the continuing political and regulatory wrangling over health care reform, and the big news of last week: the refusal of Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh to officially stand behind the bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics, which marked the beginning of a quick end to that effort. (See our editorial on Page 21). So, please enjoy our look at just a handful of public policy issues on Pages 12 and 13. And as always, we welcome your feedback. ~ Rick Saia (rsaia@wbjournal.com) This Week In The WBJ Worcester Business Journal (ISSN#1063- 6595) is published bi-weeky, 24x per year, including 5 special issues in April, July, September, November and December, by New Engand Business Media. 172 Shrewsbury St., Worcester, MA 01604.
