Ross Manor has not commented on the settlement. Cross Insurance buys Mass. fi rm Cross Insurance in Bangor has acquired a Massachusetts fi rm that it said was one of the largest independent insurance providers in New England. Cross recently announced that it purchased Corcoran & Havlin Insurance Group, a Wellesley, Mass.-based fi rm that was founded in 1967 and has "grown dramatically." Corcoran & Havlin also has offi ces in Medfi eld and Duxbury. Financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed. Corcoran & Havlin's owners, Jack Keefe and George Doherty, will continue to lead the insurance provider, the announce- ment said. e company's approxi- mately 55 employees are also staying on board, Cross spokesman Ira Kantor told Mainebiz. The program offers loans up to $350,000 that can be used for startup costs, working capital, business acquisition, equipment, inventory, renovation, construction and purchase of an eligible business. Penobscot Community Health Care in Bangor received a $38,500 grant from Maine Cancer Foundation to support efforts to reduce gaps in cancer screening for its patients.
