The American Heart Association in Scarborough announced that several Maine employers received national recognition for promoting physical activ- ity and health in the workplace through the Fit Friendly Worksite program. SCORE, mentors to America's small businesses, announced that Hickory Arms, a North Berwick manu- facturer of martial arts weapons, and Open Bench Project, a shared learn/work facility in Portland, were winners of e American Small Business Championship. e program provides training, resources and networking opportunities to small business owners in the U.S. Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Lewiston presented its Heart of Hospice Award to United Ambulance in Lewiston. e award is presented to individuals or organizations that embrace the mission of the hospice and put the patient and family fi rst, provide accessible, compassionate, expert hospice and palliative care to members of the communities.
