A New Jersey- based attorney for the company told the newspaper that Cate Street and the two other defendant companies had not yet responded to Conti's lawsuit. Investor seeks 'other users' for shuttered GNP mill e California investor that bought the shuttered Great Northern paper mill in East Millinocket for $5.4 mil- lion no longer is marketing the facil- ity to newsprint manufacturers and is seeking "other users" for the site. e Bangor Daily News reported that Hackman Capital Partners has sold papermaking "systems and compo- nents" to "other mills in the region" and is clearing space in the mill's recycling room for potential ten- ants. e investor bought the East Millinocket mill at foreclosure auction in December. Great Northern Paper Co. fi led for Chapter 7 bankruptcy last September, citing at least $50 million in debt and more than 1,000 creditors. e former GNP mill, which made newsprint, closed in February 2014, laying off most of its 256 workers. The Maine Community Foundation awarded a grant of $10,000 to support Our Katahdin in the launch of a leader- ship incubator for the Katahdin Region. The incubator, which will be implement- ed in collaboration with the Katahdin Region Higher Education Center, will support small business entrepreneurs and community leaders in an effort to strengthen the culture of entrepreneur- ship and optimism in the region.
