CTAA gave property manager WinnResidential the Green Property of the year award and the Above and Beyond Property Professional award for the 255-unit complex. First completed in 2009, Metro Green Apartments consist of 50 rental units and received the gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design program. The second phase added 50 units. Once complete, the facility will feature 255 units and a 17-story of- fice tower. The entire project is LEED Gold for neighborhood development. Transit-oriented development has become more popular, especially along the shoreline, as a way to reduce traffic by having people live and work near public transportation.
