www.CtGreenGuide.com Summer 2014 • Connecticut Green Guide 31 ECOmmunity PhotoS | Contributed Bright idea grant Ceremony On March 24, twenty-three Connecticut municipalities were recognized with Bright Idea grants ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 during a ceremony at the State Capitol for their participation in the statewide Clean Energy Communities program. Together these cities and towns saved on electricity and heating equivalent to the amount of electricity 33,000 homes would typically consume in one year. That resulted in avoided emissions of approximately 152,000 tons of carbon dioxide, which is the equivalent of taking 26,500 cars off the road for a year. The expected annual energy savings on the projects is $422,000. Improve Energy Efficiency, Reduce Emissions and Save Money Connecticut's Best Contractors The Connecticut Subcontractors Association awarded three contractors with its highest rating on its contractor report card, analyzing the business practices of 29 companies. The three top rated were Bartlett Brainard Eacott, Downes Construction Company, and A/Z Corporation.
