Trash-to-energy industry strives
to stay viable as recycling increases

he recycling rate is increasing.
The price of electricity is dropping.
The cost of supporting renewable
power is falling.
This is all good news in making sustainabil-
ity more affordable in Connecticut, but these
factors are throwing one of the state's oldest,
most progressive eco-friendly industries into
crisis: trash-to-energy.
