FBA-26 Hartford Business Journal • October 13, 2014 www.HartfordBusiness.com 2014 Connecticut Family Business Awards 2014 Connecticut Family Business Awards Finalist Finalist New England Urgent Care What are the family values of your business, and how do they help you remain competitive in the market? Our family values are love, honesty, respect, being genuine, engaged, and com- mitted to any task we apply ourselves to. These values have translated to high-quality service with a commitment to our patients, community, and employees, even if it meant sacrifice on our part. What would your founder say about the state of your company today and its achievements in the last year? Within three years we have built three clinics with more than $4 million in annual revenue and more than 30,000 patient visits this past year. This amazing achievement came about without compromising that mom-and-pop feel to our business, nor – more importantly – impinging on our own family's cohesiveness and growth. What is the biggest challenge to your business in the coming year? We are about to build our fourth clinic. As we continue to expand and grow, our biggest challenge will be to maintain and improve the quality of our service and avoid a corporate culture from eclipsing that mom-and-pop shop intimacy and caring environment. ProMold Plastics What are the family values of your business, and how do they help you remain competitive in the market? When an opportunity comes your way, respond quickly no matter how urgent the client is for a response. They usually lean toward those that are eager to help. Every new opportunity is also an opportunity to build and nurture a relationship that can help assure that new opportunities keep coming. What would your founder say about the state of your company today and its achievements in the last year? 'I can't believe you made it this far. It was like virtually re-building the whole company up from scratch again. I'm glad I got out when I did! It's much better leaving when you are at the top of your game.' What is the biggest challenge to your business in the coming year? Clients that over specify or under specify what they want and trying to determine what they really need and are willing to pay. This adds a significant cost burden in the devel- opment and engineering involved with new projects, and it imposes a burden of risk in hopes of future growth.
