12 Celebrating 140 Years • The Hartford Club A gala celebration of the remarkable accomplishments of longtime Hartford Club member Peter Kelly was held to benefit Connecticut Public Television Children's Programming, Malta House of Care, and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). T here's an element of e Hartford Club that's not promoted widely but is a major effort of its membership: giving back to the community. While it's accomplished throughout the year, there are three ongoing efforts worth noting. Annual anksgiving Dinner — Held the Sunday before anksgiving, e Hartford Club members donate funds to host a dinner for women and children living in shelters in and around the city. About 100 are fed annually with the culinary staff preparing the meal and the members serving it. In addition to the meal, guests are also treated to family portraits and entertained by clowns and other performers. Free Membership for Nonprofits — Understanding that nonprofits can't spend needed money on a club membership, e Hartford Club provides these organization's executive directors with complimentary associate memberships. All e Hartford Club asks for in return is the opportunity to bid on the group's fund raising galas and dinners. Nonprofits, though, are under no obligation to host their events at the club.
