(MHAC) has been a provider of services to thousands of Connecticut residents with pervasive mental illness through residential support, employment services, professional education programs, life skills, wellness programs, psychosocial, and case management services. With locations throughout the state of Connecticut our services cover a broad spectrum of evidence based programs. MHAC's West Hartford program is specifically for the Deaf or hard of hearing individuals with mental health disabilities; this program is one of a few in the country. The recipients of this program are provided a support system by highly trained, talented and diverse personnel who are proficient in sign language. MHAC is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, (CARF). This accreditation outcome, which represents the highest level of accreditation, is awarded to organizations that show substantial conformance to the standards established by CARF. It validates that the Mental Health Association of Connecticut, Inc. has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of on-site surveyors that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable. MHAC core values include Advocacy, Education and Service. We take our advocacy role very seriously using our voice in the public policy arena to eliminate the stigma related to mental illness and to achieve equality for all individuals. Goals • To continue to advocate for the rights of persons with mental illness at the local, state and national level. • To promote wellness through community education. • To support the integration of mental health equity along with primary and oral healthcare support. • To expand employment opportunities to persons in recovery. • To expand service provision through collaboration and partnerships. • To expand housing opportunities. • To ensure the delivery of cost effective high quality services. • To expand the utilization of best and evidence based practices. fundraisinG/opportunities The Art of Well Being is a bi-annual educational lecture series open to the public. These lectures will welcome health advocates from various fields of expertise to include well- known authors, advocates and celebrity supporters promoting wellness. The Art of Well Being seeks corporate fundraising support through sponsorship and ticket sales to help us sustain the lecture series. In addition, we look to the community to partner with us to host smaller fundraising events throughout the year, working with civic groups, students, etc. that seek to support our mision.
