T
he global manufactur-
ing company behind such
household product names
as Right Guard, Dial, Purex, and
Loctite aims to reduce its environ-
mental footprint 15 percent per
production unit by 2015.
"Throughout the company, we fol-
low three basic principles — preven-
tion, reduction, recycling," said Mike
Biondolillo, senior vice president,
Henkel human resources Americas.
Biondolillo said Henkel's Adhe-
sive Technologies — with research
and work done in Rocky Hill —
integrates sustainability into all
steps of product development.
"Our broad portfolio of tech-
nologies reduces energy con-
sumption, CO2 emissions, and
waste generated during produc-
tion," Biondolillo said.
To help employees gain a de-
tailed understanding of sustainabil-
ity, Henkel introduced the Sustain-
ability Ambassador Program in 2012.
Every participant is encouraged to
share the knowledge learned on
sustainable initiatives with co-
workers, customers, and students.
"Our leadership team is fully
committed to sustainability," said
Sheila Gines, regulatory affairs
specialist at Henkel. "The commit-
ment is apparent through the many
programs and initiatives in place,
and continuous efforts to keep do-
ing more to realize our sustainabil-
ity strategy."
