The startup raised $3 million from Elm Street Ventures in New Haven and quasi-state agency Connecticut Innovations. The firm wants to be in production by the end of 2014. Save Money P2 sells its ingredients at or below the cost of the petrochemicals it is replacing. The company sells plant extracts used in flavors at as little as 10 percent of the typical cost. Save the environment Potential customers like bath product giant Procter & Gamble like the idea of replacing an ingredient based on petroleum with one made from a renewable resource like biomass, thus decreasing the demand for crude oil.
