26 Hartford Business Journal • July 21, 2014 www.HartfordBusiness.com 40 Under Forty 2014 40 Under Forty 2014 Heather Loranger Age: 34 Title at work/what I do: Vice President, private banker with United Bank, which means my functional role is relationship man- agement and business development. My job takes me out of the traditional office setting, allowing me to show the bank's overwhelming support of the communities we serve while building relationships with individuals and companies looking for a first-class bank like United to meet their financial goals. I introduce potential new customers to our bank and the top-notch bankers we have on the United Team to see how we can help them succeed financially. Town I work in: Glastonbury Town I live in: Glastonbury College I attended: Fashion Institute of Technology My passion, hobby or special talent: I'm passionate about my job and being personally and professionally involved with the community. I enjoy being around friends and family that make me laugh so hard that I cry. I love the sun, beach, and traveling to new places. Twitter handle: @Heatherlee594 No. of LinkedIn connections: 1,000 Favorite place to network: Everywhere I go and everyone I talk to is always an opportunity to meet and help people. Favorite drink at a networking event: Water or vodka/soda/lime How do I create connections in my profes- sional life? Staying active in the Greater Hartford community through my personal support of local nonprofits as well as my professional role in demonstrating United Bank's unwav- ering commitment to the communities we serve. Like any great sales person, you need to have the energy and courage to get out there, introduce yourself to people you don't know and maintain the kind of rela- tionships with customers that are genuine and sincere. What's been my biggest challenge professionally? Maintaining a work-life balance. The work hours I invest in my job most of the time are not 9 to 5. Much of what I do in terms of building and managing relationships with our existing and potential new customers requires me to work after hours, attending wonderful community events, worthwhile fundraisers, and business dinners that only happen after normal work hours. This chal- lenges me every day to maintain a positive, healthy work-life balance. What is the best advice I ever received? Every failure has an equally great upside if you're willing to stay in the game. You have to keep trying things; it's OK if you fail as long as you keep landing on your feet. The biggest failure is not trying at all and not getting right back up, learning from it and moving forward. What do I want my legacy to be? That's a difficult question to answer. After all, like so many others who receive this spe- cial honor, we are still early in our careers while some are just getting started. As a his- torian would probably tell you: Let history define your legacy! On LinkedIn, Heather is connected to fellow 2014 Forty Under 40 winner Tim Yergeau. FUN FACT Vincenzo M. Landino Age: 29 Title at work/what I do: I am a global community manager and business development lead for Market Edge, providing end-to-end social solutions for B2B Fortune 500 companies. I also serve on the board of directors for the Connecticut Federal Credit Union, Wallingford Center Inc. and HUBCAP Wallingford. I was named one of Connecticut Magazine's 40 Under 40 in 2014 as well as New Haven Living Magazine's Best Blogger in 2013. Founder of the HUBCAP Wallingford, a one-of-a-kind NBIA/CBIN certified business incubator and coworking space. Town where I work: Remote office Town where I live: Wallingford College I attended: Southern Connecticut State University My passion, hobby or special talent: Philan- thropy, startups/entrepreneurship, coffee, golf, traveling, and making wine Twitter handle: @vincenzolandino No. of LinkedIn connections: 897 Favorite place to network: Marcum LLP First Fridays in New Haven Favorite Drink at a Networking Event: Club soda with lime How do I create connections in my profes- sional life? Networking events and leads groups in the traditional sense. Being in the social world, a big source of my connections have come from those that I deal with virtually every day. However, I'm a big proponent of my personal brand being on display 24/7. What's been my biggest challenge professionally? Spreading myself too thin. I always jump at opportunities to get involved, volunteer or help out. It has been my biggest blessing but also something of a curse. What is the best advice I received? "Don't put off for tomorrow what can be done today," – my dad. Procrastination is the biggest killer of productivity. My father always taught me to be as productive as pos- sible in the time you have because tomorrow will bring its own anxiety. What do I want my legacy to be? I want my professional peers to say, "Vin- cenzo was a stand up guy whose ideas and leadership were unprecedented." I want my family and friends to say, "He always showed love and had our backs." I want my enemies to say, "That guy was a nightmare." During the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Vincenzo on Twitter campaigned for U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard to be the country's next president. FUN FACT "I'm a big proponent of my personal brand being on display 24/7."
